The proposed Ferndale Townhomes development includes 9 townhouse units within three buildings, above a single-level underground parkade containing 18 parking stalls, accessed from Ferndale Avenue.

Strong Alignment

with Official Community Plan (OCP)

The project directly supports several OCP goals including accessibility, sustainability, and diversification of housing forms. The shift from RS-4 single-family zoning to townhomes meets long-term District objectives and responds to demographic needs such as seniors, young families, and empty nesters.

Transit-Oriented Missing Middle Housing

Located along the Marine Drive Transit Corridor and directly across from Cypress Park Primary School, the site is ideally positioned to support “missing middle” housing. This aligns with OCP goals for compact, ground-oriented multi-family homes in walkable, transit-served neighbourhoods.

Improved Pedestrian Connectivity & Walkability

Situated near transit stops, schools, recreational amenities, the project strengthens walkability in the neighbourhood. The design promotes safe, convenient pedestrian movement and reduces reliance on vehicle use for everyday needs.

Support for Housing Diversity & Community Needs

The proposal broadens the range of housing options available in West Vancouver by introducing family-oriented, ground-level units. This responds to demonstrated community needs for homes suitable for seniors wishing to downsize, young families seeking attainable options, and households looking for alternatives to single-family homes
